What is the role of the Sheriff's Investigators?

It is our task to serve the citizens of Wayne County, to prevent and investigate crimes committed in order to make Wayne County a safer place to live and work.

Do the investigators have the same equipment that I see on T.V. and at the Movies?

Real world crime-solving is not like you see on T.V. Our investigators are well-versed in the proper use of current technologies and techniques. However the Wayne County Sheriff's Department utilizes the TBI’s Forensic Services Division when the need arizes for forensic science services.

"I know about drugs being sold in my community, can you help me?"

Yes. We aggressively fight the drug problem in Wayne County.

If you know of criminal activity that is happening or is going to happen in your community or school, call 722-3613.

As Chief of Police for the City of Waynesboro, Sheriff Willson implemented the Silent Witness Program to help fight crime in our community.  The information received has been instrumental in "taking a bite out of crime."
