Fitterman animals rescued by joint effort.

WAYNESBORO, Tenn. - As a Wayne County woman faces animal cruelty charges the animals are now safe.  In recent weeks Investigators discovered more than 60 animals on Laura Fitterman's land on Bear Creek Road in the south western portion of Wayne County. 

Sheriff Ric Wilson and members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department armed with a court order and direct assistance from Leighann McColloum, Tennessee’s State Director for  The Humane Society of the United StatesC.A.U.S.E.  For P.A.W.S. , Inc.   representative Maria Demmers, and many local volunteers began rehabilitating and removing the animals on Thursday November 29th.   The last of the animals were rescued on Saturday December 1st, 2007 and transported to an undisclosed  location that was better suited for their care while awaiting the December 11th court date to determine their future homes.
